Getting stARTed...
In
my life this has come like a sudden flood of creative revelation and stepping
out with God in what I felt him calling me into. Not in the future, but right
now!
In 2009, I attended an amazing prophetic art conference in Scotland
(hosted by the Glasgow Prophetic Centre) in which God brought fresh revelation
and empowerment to my own personal prophetic painting. From there I started
doing art evangelism with Light & Life events. As I returned back to South
Africa I felt the Lord calling me to start something here with art. Nothing
happened for 10 months, and then In November I started with running a simple
workshop at Bethesda House with both YWAMers and local believers from various
churches. This was an explosive beginning to what God had on His heart for the
ministry of prophetic art at Bethesda. After that first initial workshop, eight
of the people began meeting weekly for further training and experience; and so
the first Bethesda art group was birthed. This was a three month group, after
which another was run in May 2011, with some of the previous gang helping to
facilitate what they had learned. Once a month we would host an art outreach in
Muizenberg where we would offer simple prophetic pictures to the local people
as well as joining in with Light & Life events every now and then. During
this time dozens of lives were saved, and countless others were touched by the
presence of God through this language that reaches even the hardest of hearts.
But it seems that this is not where it ends…
NEXT UP...CYPRUS!!
Some YWAM
friends of mine have been pioneering a house of prayer in Cyprus since 2009. We
have been chatting on and off for a while about the possibility of me coming to
do an art workshop with their ministry in the Mediterranean... hard to say no
to that;)I never really considered it because of how much we already
have on our plate here on the home front…
But it was decided by my YWAM leaders that Bethesda staff be
taking a two month break at the end of the year, and so this opened up an
opportunity for me to consider going. I prayed about it and God said YES GO!!
My missionary friends did the
School of Intercessory Prayer (SOIP) here in at YWAM Muizenberg in 2008 and
have a similar desire to us here at Bethesda House: to bring worship, prayer
and evangelism together to reach the lost. Over the past months God has been
giving them a burning desire to take art to their streets. And they strongly
feel it could be a key to unlock the hearts of the Cypriote people; who are not
exactly very open to hearing the gospel in words. But they might be open to
receiving a simple picture of God’s love;)
So I will be going with a small team in January for two weeks
to come alongside the team in Cyprus to coach them in how to use prophetic art
as a tool to reach the lost and broken, the rich and poor. We will be teaching,
praying and worshiping with them and then partnering with them to take art to
the streets!! We are looking at
mobile prophetic art at the beachfront areas. We also intend on going into the
red light district and drawing pictures of God’s love to the girls working
there. We have also talked about going into the northern occupied part of
Cyprus and painting prophetically over the nation! There are some other options we are talking about, and
plenty of room to be led by the spiritJOur goal is two fold: to train, equip, encourage and help
launch this group of missionaries into what God has for them in the area of
prophetic art. And, to impact the people of Cyprus with the message of the
gospel through prophetic creativity.
With this said I am trusting God to move a few mountains
before the end of the year!On my way to Cyprus, I plan to spend the month of December in
Scotland reconnecting with friends, meeting up with Light & Life leaders
and having a break. So I need to apply for two visas and raise R18 000 (€1680)
for the trip. Under normal circumstances I would be tempted to put these
ambitions aside and keep it safe. But I feel God is challenging me to trust him
extravagantly! I have a deep faith in my heart for things to fall into place
and for these mountains to be moved for the adventure ahead.
Much Love,
Gaylin.
